Antonis Karatzikis
Short Biography
Antonis Karatzikis studied piano and composition at the Orfeio Conservatory of Athens, as well as choral and orchestral conducting at the Nakas Conservatory in Athens. He has also attended jazz piano courses and orchestral conducting seminars with renowned conductors and piano soloists from around the world.
He has composed music for theater productions and television. His body of work includes Scrooge – The Musical (Akropol Theater, 2022), Liberaj – The Musical (Knossos Theater, 2019), the opera Helen (Parnassos Theater, 2017), as well as numerous orchestral and chamber music compositions. His works have been performed by all major Greek symphony orchestras.
As a conductor, he has led notable performances such as the concert of singer Aleka Kanellidou at the Herodion Theatre (2023), a tribute to composer Mikis Theodorakis at Athens College featuring actor Yiannis Bezos (2022), the musical Frozen Queen at the Pallas Theater (2023), among others.
As a pianist, he has collaborated with singers and artists in Greece, Germany, Switzerland, Turkey, Thailand, Egypt, and other countries.
He is the founder of The Athens Recording Orchestra, with which he records works by composers from around the world. He also teaches piano and advanced music theory at conservatories across Greece, with many years of teaching experience.
Currently, he serves as the conductor of the Saint Paraskevi Concert Band and the Markopoulo Orchestra.
